London: Herbert Jenkins, 1940
8vo, pp. 252. 4 pp. advertisements bound in at rear. Original red boards, lettered in gilt and with publisher's device in gilt to spine. Illustrated dustwrapper. Offsetting to endpapers, title page marked, a better than very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with two closed tears to front panel, and a little wear to spine ends.
First edition, first issue, in the primary red binding with gilt lettering.
Familiar settings, unfamiliar characters. No Wodehouse regulars here, but that didn't stop the Saturday Evening Post serialising it in May and June of 1940, before its appearance in book form.
