Her notes on the first London production of the play, directed in 1955 by Peter Hall, cover the rear endpapers: '1st night audience in London, yawns, ironic laughs, audience walking out - attacked. Interminable evening, the actors felt. [...] Peter Hall "It has no literal or final meaning."...'.
