London: Andre Deutsch, 1973
Small 8vo, pp. 105. Original orange boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Photographic dustwrapper. A fine copy in a near fine dustwrapper with light marking to rear panel, and just a little fading to spine.
First edition. Film maker Tony Palmer's copy, with his dated ('7-xii-73') ownership inscription to half-title.
First staged at the National Theatre, London, in 1973, with a cast led by Peter Firth and Alec McCowen, Equus was filmed four years later with Richard Burton as the psychiatrist, was recently revived in the West End with Daniel Radcliffe as Strang, and a production by Theatre Royal, Stratford East, is on a UK national tour as you read this.
A lovely copy.
