4to, pp. 96. Original grey boards, lettered in red to front panel and spine. Printed dustwrapper. Slight offsetting to endpapers, but a near fine copy in a darkened dustwrapper lacking the spine and with some light staining to front panel, which is missing a large chip at the top edge.

First edition, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO FRONT FREE ENDPAPER TO THE ACTOR LEO McKERN: 'For Leo McKern, Douglas Stewart'. McKern was born in Sydney, where this book was published, and made his stage debut there in 1944 before emigrating to Britain. McKern appeared in the stage adaptation of Stewart's radio play Ned Kelly in Sydney in 1956.
