SWIFT, Graham

Waterland

London: Heinemann, 1983

8vo, pp. 310. Original black boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Illustrated dustwrapper. Author's photographic portrait to rear flap. Very slightly cocked, corners a little bumped, but a very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with a little historical damp damage to reverse of dustwrapper at lower edge of rear panel, and the lightest of wear to spine ends.

First edition.

Shortlisted for the Booker prize, and filmed in 1992 with Jeremy Irons and Ethan Hawke. Swift later won the Booker with Last Ordersbut Waterlandremains his finest achievement, a book as seductive and unearthly as its Fenland setting.

A fine copy.
