First US edition, published in the UK the same year.

American-born but UK-based Alice Campbell [1887-1955] published nineteen crime novels between 1928 and 1950: a Golden Age mystery set on an English country estate, this is one of her Inspector Headcorn titles.

Very scarce in the dust jacket.
