[ed. WIERSBE, Warren]

Teenage Rock

Wheaton: Miracle Books, 1959

8vo, pp. 32. Original illustrated stiff paper wrappers. A little age toning, otherwise a fine copy.

First edition.

'Whether you're "solid" (according to the rock 'n roll dictionary -- "a substantial citizen who digs the rock") or "square" (one who digs Guy Lombardo) ... whether you're "hip" (possessing acute musical perception) or "off limits" (strictly "square") -- no one can completely escape some consideration of rock 'n roll.'
Hysterical pro-Christian, proto-Taliban anti-rock and roll tirade, edited and co-written by the fundamentalist preacher Warren Wiersbe -- who is now in his eighties, has clocked up more than 150 books, and here contributes an essay called Freedom -- or Free-Dumb?, an anti-Communist rant which manages to be both hilarious and depressing at the same time. Cringing attempts to get down with the kids by using their lingo do little to disguise the ignorance, fear and bile behind the essays themselves. Glorious agony -- the literary equivalent of watching your dad dance.

Extremely scarce. We can find no copy in any institutional library.
